BOOM Library ROAD RAGE

BOOM Library announces the release of ROAD RAGE, a professional sound effects library for vehicle damage and crash sound design. ROAD RAGE covers the entire spectrum of vehicle destruction, from studio-recorded component impacts to large-scale crane-drop sessions, and is organized as a toolkit for sound designers in film, television, and game audio.
ROAD RAGE is based on the principle that a convincing crash sequence is created from individual sound layers, not a single pre-mixed impact. The library captures these layers through three carefully planned recording phases: studio sessions for clean, isolated components; scrapyard sessions with heavy equipment; and crane-drop sessions for the highest-energy events.
Feature at a Glance:
- Three editions: Construction Kit, Designed, and Bundle
- 600 elements with over 5,600 sounds across six categories: glass and car parts, metal panel impacts and scrapes, plastic and carbon, structural components (door flex, frame resonance), environmental contact surfaces (fencing, road signs), and mechanical details
- 90 pre-assembled crash sequences in the Designed edition, covering six car types at small, medium, and large intensity levels plus two truck types and two motorcycle
- Most event types available in both exterior and interior versions: head-on collision, complex rollover, single rollover, roof crush, and scrape
- Simultaneous multi-perspective capture: exterior MS and AB stereo rigs alongside Ambisonic interior recording in AmbiX format (Ambeo VR)
- Specialist microphones used throughout: LOM Geofon contact mics, DPA 4061/4062, CO-100K, Audix D6, and Sennheiser e901
- Three recording phases: studio sessions for clean, isolated components; scrapyard sessions with heavy equipment; crane-drop sessions for the highest-energy destruction content
- Delivered at 96kHz/24-bit WAV with UCS-compliant metadata
- Direct integration with Wwise and FMOD, compatible with all major DAWs and video editing software
- Royalty-free perpetual license covering film, television, advertising, and games
"The more useful story is not the sound of a crash, it's the craft of building one," said Patrice, BOOM’s lead sound designer on the project. "Every element in ROAD RAGE is recorded to give sound designers a real choice: glass that behaves differently at different force levels, metal panels with real resonance character, structural components recorded from inside the vehicle. These are the details that separate a credible crash from a sound effect."
ROAD RAGE is available in three editions. The Construction Kit offers more than 5,600 sound effects across six categories: glass and car parts; metal panel impacts and scrapes; plastic and carbon; structural components such as door flex and frame resonance; environmental contact surfaces like metal fencing and road signs; and mechanical details. Major impacts are captured from multiple simultaneous microphone positions, including exterior MS and AB stereo rigs, Ambisonic interior capture in AmbiX format (Ambeo VR), LOM Geofon contact microphones, DPA 4061/4062, CO-100K, Audix D6, and Sennheiser e901.
The Designed layer contains 90 pre-assembled crash sequences across two car types and two truck types at small, medium, and large intensity levels. Every event type (head-on collision, complex rollover, single rollover, roof crush, and scrape) is available as both exterior and interior versions. The Bundle includes both editions.
Scrapyard sessions placed microphones inside the vehicles before each impact, capturing internal structural stress and exterior event acoustics simultaneously from the same take. The final recording sessions used a large crane to drop one vehicle onto another and onto the ground on multiple sides, the highest-energy content in the library, built for destruction sequences that cannot be constructed from smaller elements alone.
ROAD RAGE is delivered as WAV files at 96kHz/24-bit with UCS-compliant metadata. The library integrates directly into Wwise and FMOD game audio middleware pipelines and is compatible with all major DAWs, video editing software, and professional audio management tools. All content is royalty-free under a perpetual license covering commercial use across film, television, advertising, and games. ROAD RAGE is available now at the website below in Construction Kit, Designed, and Bundle editions.
