Celestion PXT6000

At this year’s InfoComm 2026, Celestion, the manufacturer of professional loudspeakers and compression drivers for sound reinforcement applications, will showcase its groundbreaking new PXT6000 rectangular exit compression driver. Visitors are invited to experience Celestion’s latest pro audio innovations in the North Hall at Booth N6476.

The PXT6000 introduces Celestion’s breakthrough Planar eXit Technology (PXT), a new approach to high-frequency wave shaping. Developed using advanced mathematical modelling, this unique, patented design methodology re-shapes the fundamental anatomy of a conventional waveshaper. Historically, designers have been forced into a trade-off to solve acoustic limitations, often having to choose between a solution that provides controlled directivity with a sub-optimal frequency response, or a smooth frequency response with limited directivity control.

The PXT6000 eliminates this compromise, offering the best of both worlds. By delivering a highly coherent, single-parameter (1P) rectangular pressure wave derived from Celestion’s patented deep-drawn, ultra-low noise titanium diaphragm, the PXT6000 simultaneously enables an output that has both an exceptionally smooth frequency response and excellent directivity control.

The PXT6000 provides an overall more natural sound by enhancing the driver/waveshaper interface, effectively reducing the “horn-like” throat resonances that can colour the output of conventional designs. Furthermore, its exceptionally coherent wavefront avoids power loss and vertical interference lobes when arrayed, delivering greater output efficiency and improved intelligibility. An optimised internal flare rate also improves driver loading, resulting in a superior low-frequency response. In addition to its acoustic advantages, the PXT6000 features an ultra-compact design utilising a cast aluminium waveshaper. This shorter build, paired with a thinner exit (165mm x 20mm), improves loading for enhanced directivity and a smoother off-axis response.

Despite its compact footprint, the PXT6000 is a powerhouse. Driven by a lightweight neodymium magnet assembly and a 3-inch (75mm) edgewound copper clad aluminium voice coil, the driver boasts a robust 240W continuous power rating (120W nominal) and an 8O impedance. It faithfully reproduces a broad frequency range of 500 to 20,000Hz, ensuring unrelenting performance for high-end professional sound reinforcement arrays.

“With the PXT6000, we have eliminated the historical trade-offs designers face when dealing with acoustic limitations,” says Paul Cork, Celestion Head of Engineering. “By completely re-shaping the fundamental anatomy of a conventional waveshaper, our patented Planar eXit Technology achieves a highly coherent, single-parameter wavefront. This allows us to deliver both an exceptionally smooth frequency response and excellent directivity control, without compromise.”
