HK Audio CONCERT SOUND Training Course

HK Audio recently welcomed users, technicians and rental partners to an intensive two-day CONCERT SOUND operator training course, designed to give attendees practical, real-world experience with the company’s CONTOUR X and COSMO series systems. Led by HKademy Audio experts, the training combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on system setup, measurement and optimisation, covering everything from system planning and safety regulations through to rigging, cabling and fine-tuning in realistic live sound scenarios.
Organised by HK Audio’s German and Austrian sales team, the event was created to help users deepen their understanding of modern concert sound workflows while building confidence in using HK Audio systems in everyday applications. “Many customers are already familiar with the product through presentations or demos, but we see significant value in creating a dedicated setting where they can deepen their understanding, ask detailed questions and work directly with the system,” explains Sebastian Huber, Head of Sales for Germany and Austria at HK Audio. “The goal was to build confidence in using our CONCERT SOUND products in everyday applications.”
Over the two days, attendees explored the practical use of software platforms including EASE Focus 3, LAKE and ArmoniaPlus, while learning how measurement tools such as Smaart and Open Sound Meter can be used to optimise system performance in real-world environments. As productions travel between venues and countries, and standardised workflows help engineers achieve reliable results wherever they are working, the importance of consistency was a key theme throughout the course.
For lead trainer Karel Noon, Application Support Engineer for HK Audio, combining classroom theory with physical system deployment was a key part of the course’s success. “Experiencing this first-hand by setting up a system achieves this goal a lot easier than theory or hands-on alone,” he explains. “One thing that always sticks out is experiencing cardioid sub setups.”
As modern PA systems become increasingly software-driven, HK Audio believes practical technical education is more important than ever. “Today’s systems are far more powerful and flexible than they used to be and that’s why hands-on training matters so much,” adds Huber. “We want users to fully understand the tools they’re working with, feel confident using the systems in real-world situations and ultimately deliver the best possible results for their clients.”
By the end of the two-day training, attendees had not only become certified CONCERT SOUND operators but had also gained valuable real-world experience working directly with the systems. “Events like this create a platform for direct exchange,” adds Huber. “Not only between HK Audio and customers, but also among participants themselves. This fosters a sense of community, builds trust in the brand, and strengthens long-term partnerships through shared experiences and knowledge transfer.”
Noon also emphasised the importance of preparation and safety within modern touring and live sound environments. “I hope attendees took away the importance of good preparation, where to find the information they need, and how to work safely,” he concludes.
