Waldorf introduces the iPad version of its renowned Blofeld synthesizer, bringing the distinctive sound of its classic instruments to a mobile platform. Based on the same sound engine as the Blofeld plug-in, this app delivers the characteristic, rich, and dynamic tones associated with instruments such as the Blofeld, Q, Q+, Microwave, Microwave XT, and the flagship Wave.
At the core of the sound generation is a powerful wavetable engine capable of producing a wide range of expressive and detailed sound textures. This synthesis system is rooted in the pioneering technology of the early 1980s PPG synthesizers and is known for delivering sharp, bell-like, and assertive timbres that have shaped numerous hit records over the decades.
The integrated synthesis section provides direct access to all essential sound design parameters, including oscillators, wavetables, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and effects. A comprehensive modulation matrix offers 16 freely assignable slots in addition to 9 fixed routings. Four additional “modifiers” are available to apply mathematical operations as modulation sources, expanding creative possibilities. A built-in preset browser with a structured database enables efficient organization and advanced filtering for fast and intuitive sound selection.
The arpeggiator includes 15 predefined patterns and a fully featured pattern editor, allowing users to create custom rhythmic variations and sequences. As with the hardware version, the iPad app supports full 16-part multimode functionality. Each part can be individually configured with its own MIDI channel, velocity range, and key zone, enabling complex layered and split sounds. An integrated sample browser offers a clear overview of imported and available wavesets. Users can import custom samples and assign them directly to the oscillators, adding further flexibility to the sound design process.
Alongside the iPad release the Blofeld plug-in version will be updated to 1.1.1 with the following highlights:

- Bug fixes and maintenance
