FiiO has announced two additions to its desktop audio range: the DARKSIDE PRO low-noise regulated linear power supply and the K13 R2R desktop DAC and headphone amplifier. The DARKSIDE PRO follows the successful PL50, created to provide stable power to sensitive Hi-Fi components such as DACs, streamers and headphone amplifiers. By replacing conventional switching adapters with a carefully engineered linear power supply, the DARKSIDE PRO is designed to significantly reduce noise and interference within an audio system. At the core of the unit is an audiophile-grade 75W toroidal transformer, paired with a fully discrete voltage regulation circuit. This design enables stable, low-ripple power delivery with minimal electrical noise, helping connected components perform at their best.
The DARKSIDE PRO provides selectable 12V or 15V output and up to 3A of current, making it compatible with a wide range of audio devices including DACs, headphone amplifiers and network streamers. Complementing the DARKSIDE PRO is the K13 R2R, FiiO’s latest desktop DAC and headphone amplifier built around a true resistor-ladder architecture. The unit employs a fully differential 24-bit R2R DAC built from precision resistor arrays, delivering a natural and organic presentation often associated with classic analogue systems. The K13 R2R integrates the entire audio chain – from digital-to-analogue conversion to volume control and amplification – within a fully balanced signal path. This architecture improves interference rejection and reduces distortion while maintaining high dynamic range and detailed reproduction.
