e-instruments expands its free "Fragment" series with Velvet Guitars Fragment, a new virtual instrument delivering the warm, woody resonance and evocative low-end character of a vintage baritone guitar. Based on the acclaimed Velvet Guitars instrument, this free version features the Mellow Baritone preset. The extended scale length of the instrument keeps low notes clear and defined, while the semi-hollow body adds depth and resonance. The result is a spacious and distinctive sound especially suited to mellow, cinematic and atmospheric music.

Sustain and mute articulations, together with a dedicated legato mode, provide the flexibility to create everything from sparse low lines and lush mid-range chords to expressive melodies in the upper register, while dead-note samples add rhythmic detail and realism. Two vintage amplifiers form the tonal foundation of the instrument. Each sample was recorded dry and with real spring reverb through each amp, allowing independent control over amp blend and reverb amount. Recorded rather than modelled, the reverb retains the lively, dynamic response of real spring tanks. Velvet Guitars Fragment also features the US 60s tremolo, meticulously recreated to stay true to the original hardware. A lush onboard reverb FX chain provides additional depth and atmosphere.
