Celestion TF0512HE

Celestion, a manufacturer of professional loudspeakers and compression drivers for sound reinforcement applications, announces the TF0512HE. In a five-inch form factor, the TF0512HE offers extended bass response for its size, exceptional sound quality and high performance, thanks to robust construction and cutting-edge materials. Optimal applications include woofer duties in compact two-way studio monitors or bookshelf speakers, low-profile infill cabinets, and even small line array boxes employing one or more units.

A pressed steel chassis facilitates maximum energy transfer while keeping unit weight to a scant 1.4 kilograms (3.1 pounds). Able to handle up to 150W of continuous program power, the TF0512HE pairs well with the high-output Class D amplifiers often used in today’s most popular active cabinet designs. Kevlar loading adds stiffness and resilience to the lightweight paper cone, keeping sound free of distortion even at sustained high output. The cone is mounted within an Elastomer (elastic polymer) surround, which increases the limits of its excursion thereby enhancing bass response. An inverted dust cap allows a phase plug to be centered close to the cone, making the TF0512HE perfect for horn-loaded cabinet designs meant to increase projection and perceived loudness in an acoustic space.

The TF0512HE also features a ferrite magnet and copper-clad aluminum voice coil, combining the best of old-school and contemporary means to maximize performance while minimizing heat - and contributing to an efficiency of 89.5dB. Its 8-ohm nominal impedance delivers compatibility with the broadest possible range of applications. Frequency response clocks in at an impressive 55 to 4,000 Hz enabling the speaker to serve as the primary woofer and midrange driver in a compact two-way system with or without enhancement via a separate subwoofer. At the same time, the extension into the higher midrange makes the TF0512HE a prime candidate for the middle driver in a three-way system in which frequencies below commonly used crossover points such as 500 or 250Hz are handed off to a larger woofer.

The TF0512HE will surely be of great interest to loudspeaker cabinet manufacturers as a “secret weapon” for providing end users with generous low-end response and clean midrange - all with legendary Celestion build quality, durability, and value.
