ADDAC System expands Four String Series

ADDAC129 Resonator V2 frame2

ADDAC System announces a significant creative fortification to Four String Series: ADDAC120B Bass Headstock & Bridge, ADDAC128 Frets (including ADDAC128M Microtonal Frets), and ADAC129 Resonator. The Four String Series, introduced in June of this year, is open canvas for users to explore and engage with physical strings from various perspectives, promoting creative experimentation. All three of the new modules are available now through ADDAC System and its authorized resellers.

Adding to the guitar headstock announced in June, this is the base of the ADDAC String modules, covering low frequency territory. The product consists of headstock and bridge modules, allowing for string gauges up to .110. Strings are installed just like they woud be on a traditional guitar - users are free to choose whichever strings to install and what tuning to use. The headstock features 4 bass tuners, and both module panels use 2mm stainless steel for strength.

The ADDAC128 Frets and Microtonal modules are able to create a fretted position anywhere on the frame; its placement requires a tuner to get it to the right position for the intended pitch, and several modules can be placed for more notes. The height of each module is calibrated using the 2 screws on the front. To avoid any buzzing, each fret needs to be set slightly lower then the previous one. Once the order and heights are set the first time, users should keep the same order for next the next uses as the plastic may slightly deform and not recover from it’s first setup - the product comes with labeling circles for this purpose. The ADDAC128M Microtonal Frets is available as a variation to the standard ADDAC128 Frets for those preferring smaller, microtonal intervals.

ADDAC129 Resonator V2 1

ADDAC129 expands the Four String Series into a physical resonator. A vibration speaker slides into the bridge end lever and transports any sound through the strings which is then captured by the pickup. The vibration speaker is powered by a small mono amplifier, and its input accepts any input (synth/line), and the volume knob attenuates the incoming audio. The input can be fed by the ADDAC121/122 pickup output creating a feedback system, and can be fed external audio which effectively turns the system into an audio processor or a mix of both using external mixing. The effect generated will maintain the natural decay of the strings, resembling a spring reverb without background noise.

Tuning of the strings will greatly influence the overall tone and harmonics that resonate with the incoming audio. Short bursts of audio can decay into dense harmonics clusters, and drones will excite complex reverb-like harmonics as they are 'filtered' by the string's tuning. Users can manually mute individual strings allowing them to resonate at will. The coupler tightly slides into the headstock end lever making it easy to install or remove; this standalone solution takes no rack space; an external power supply is provided.

The concept for the Four Strings Series originated from the desire to incorporate physical strings into Eurorack, similar to a lap steel guitar or dulcimer that can be seamlessly integrated into any Eurorack frame. All of the products within the Four Strings Series is available now - join the 'string revolution' in Eurorack synthesis.
