From Blankenese to St. Pauli: In the anniversary year MediaSoundHamburg presents a new festival centre with the ibis Hotel Hamburg St. Pauli Messe: The hotel is located in the heart of the Hanseatic city, only a short walk from the harbour, city, centre, Landungsbruecken and Reeperbahn / St.Pauli. The friendly hotel has 162 air-conditioned rooms and a conference room with a large video wall and sound system. The reception and hotel bar are open 24 hours.

Another venue for MediaSoundHamburg’s public events this year is the resonanzraum – or room for rensonance – situated right in the heart of St. Pauli. Concerts and the award ceremony of the Young Talent Award / Fare Well Party will take place in the little concert hall which is simultaneously rehearsal room for the renowned Ensemble Resonanz and a space for experimenting with new concert ideas.

Since January 2018, the TONALi SAAL with foyer, bar, artists’ room and wardrobe has been available to both the classical stars of tomorrow (TONALiSTEN) for the development of their ideas, for the invention and testing of new experimental concert formats, as well as to the TONALi Academy for studio concerts, workshops, seminars, lectures, theme evenings, training courses, symposia, entrance examinations and much more. The small concert hall near the Grindelviertel is another MediaSoundHamburg venue. For the first time last year’s MasterClass FilmMusic took place here.

The HAW Sound Lab with production studios on the Art and Media Campus Hamburg is an experimental field for the study courses Media Technology, Media Systems, Communication Design and MA Sound/Vision at HAW Hamburg. The Studio Kino, located near Reeperbahn and Schanzen Viertel, was built in 1929. It has survived the war and was served as a cinema until 1961. The high competition from other cinemas and especially television led to its closure. The last time it celebrated its reopening in 2011 after some reconstruction measures. Today there is capacity for 208 visitors in two cinemas auditoriums.
