Tascam’s Versatile Media Player Hits the Mark for Audio Professionals
Tascam, long known for their versatile recorders and players for the professional integrator and pro audio markets, have introduced their CD-400UDAB media player. Combining a slot-loading CD player, FM/DAB+ tuner, SD/USB player and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, the CD-400UDAB offers audio playback from many sources. A 3.5-mm auxiliary input admits additional audio from external sources such as MP3 players or smartphones and tablet computers without Bluetooth. Morover, the unit can record: from CD or the FM/DAB+ tuner to CD or to USB media.
The CD-400UDAB provides professional-class XLR balanced outputs, RCA unbalanced main outputs, and a second set of RCA unbalanced outputs dedicated to the tuner. A high-quality 6.3-mm stereo headphones output enables quick and easy silent monitoring and confirmation of operation. A two-line backlit LCD displays the settings for easy programming and operation.
The CD-400UDAB can be controlled remotely by RS-232C or the included infrared remote control. An optional Ethernet card (IF-E100) is going to provide control over Ethernet in a future release. Once configured, a panel lock function can disable the front buttons to avoid unauthorized operation or programming. And a power-on play function automatically starts playback as soon as mains power comes up. These features combine to ensure tamper-proof, foolproof, automatic operation.
Tascam have managed to concentrate all of these media sources, recording features, and professional connectivity in a space-saving 1U rack design with an understated black facade. Its combination of form, features, and easy, reliable operation makes the CD-400UDAB a terrific choice for institutions, retail, schools, music venues, restaurants, and many more.
