Audiotechnology by STAGETEC is supporting tv production of the top two weekly NFL games. For the Monday night games, an AURUS console carries out audio submixing of all field, crowd and camera mics. The mixing desk is combined with a NEXUS network which transports all audio and control signals including the intercom  control data (RS485) and 4-wire signals from the submix OB vehicle to the PA announcers booth and field. NEXUS also connects the OB trucks with each other via fibre and MADI so that the main production OB vehicle can grab all relevant signals in addition to the submix and including the announcers mics. These sometimes lengthy connections are made via robust single-mode fibre cables.

NFL Network broadcast the first game of the season, from San Diego on November 10, 2011, with STAGETEC technology which will now be used regularly for the Thursday top games. An important part of this set-up is a NEXUS base device on the field and a CRESCENDO audio mixing console which is networked with the NEXUS router on the audio submix OB vehicle. Another NEXUS base device installed in the wireless receivers field rack connects the main audio production OB truck with the submix trucks and the stadium. All audio signals including those from the ambience microphones, the parabolic microphones as well as the communication signals over 4-wire connections are distributed over NEXUS fibres.

The audio submix on the CRESCENDO was performed by Robert Qua who took to the system rather quickly. "It was not only my first time mixing on a STAGETEC system but also my first NFL submix. I jumped on the CRESCENDO system and was impressed how quickly I was actually up and running and getting what I needed out of the system".

The STAGETEC systems for the NFL top games are provided by CP Communications, a major Audio and Video communications solutions company in the HD and RF Digital domains. CP Communications Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Kurt Heitmann, is very impressed and pleased with the system. "We made a commitment to and a valued partnership with Stagetec and they have proven to be the right fit for this industry. With today's complicated sports shows you need the flexibility and scalability of the Stagetec systems" says Kurt. "We now have two systems operating and shining on two major NFL telecasts and we think this is
just the beginning for this outstanding technology in the USA."
